Virginie Basté Embarks on a Meaningful Journey
Virginie Basté, originally from Alsace, has found her peaceful haven in Estipouy. Many are familiar with the Escapa complex, a popular destination for vacationers, but few know the adventurous spirit behind it. After dedicating herself wholeheartedly to the establishment of this retreat, she is now ready to hand over the reins to her children and pursue her dreams of vast spaces, freedom, and a commitment to humanitarian efforts that drive her to connect with others.
Having spent eight months traveling solo through Central America with nothing but her backpack, Virginie returned to France with a fresh idea: to cycle from her homeland in Alsace to Estipouy. This journey spans 1,000 kilometers and is structured into ten stages, all aimed at raising funds for her next ambitious project: to provide art therapy workshops for vulnerable children in Morocco. "Every kilometer is filled with encounters; my goal is to stay and eat with locals, sharing my story every evening like a storyteller," she says, gazing towards the horizon with hope.
The journey commenced on September 11, with Virginie setting off from the base of the Liberty Statue in Colmar. She plans to reach the D'Artagnan statue in Auch around September 22. This initiative not only highlights her personal growth but also emphasizes the importance of supporting children in need, showcasing the power of community and solidarity.
