The Role of Tawazun in Enhancing Defense Capabilities
The composition of the Emirati pavilion reflects Abu Dhabi's strategic model for promoting its defense industry internationally, with the Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement playing a pivotal role alongside the Ministry of Defense and national enterprises. This council is instrumental in developing the UAE's defense industrial ecosystem and actively seeks international partnerships. During its participation at the El Alamein International Airshow in Egypt last September, Tawazun announced its ongoing efforts to identify opportunities that could bolster the development of the defense ecosystem and enhance the competitiveness of national capabilities. Together with the Ministry of Defense and ADNEC, Tawazun is facilitating the presence of Emirati companies under a unified national platform.
This model has already been successfully implemented at several significant international events. For instance, at Eurosatory 2026 in Paris, the Emirati pavilion, supported by the Ministry of Defense and Tawazun, and organized by ADNEC Group, brought together numerous national defense actors. The pavilion attracted over 12,500 visitors and conducted more than 480 meetings with companies, military delegations, and other international stakeholders throughout the show.
The participation in Marrakech is part of an ongoing international tour, with ADNEC announcing that the national pavilion will take part in several key exhibitions in 2026, including the World Defence Show in Riyadh, SAHA in Istanbul, the El Alamein Airshow, and the Bahrain International Airshow.
Among the anticipated companies at Marrakech is EDGE, a leading name in the Emirati defense sector. Already present at the 2024 edition of the Marrakech Airshow, EDGE showcased its capabilities in smart weapons, autonomous systems, light arms, and non-lethal solutions. Their participation in 2026 comes at a time of intensified international industrial cooperation, highlighted by a strategic agreement signed in June with the French group Safran at Eurosatory to expand collaboration in aerospace and defense, which includes the development of a next-generation guided weapon.
Furthermore, Generation 5 Holding is set to make waves at Marrakech, particularly due to its recent milestones in military aviation. In May 2026, the Emirati firm and Brazilian manufacturer Embraer entered into an exclusive strategic partnership covering a broad scope around the C-390 Millennium program in the UAE, marking the first acquisition of this military transport aircraft in the Middle East.
Additionally, Resource Industries, another Emirati company active in defense technologies, will also be featured at the pavilion, showcasing systems designed for military vehicles, drone platforms, counter-drone technologies, as well as solutions in radar, optronics, and electronic warfare. Their previous participation at Eurosatory 2026 resulted in 14 meetings with international stakeholders, highlighting their growing influence in the sector.
Moreover, Multi Level Group will add to the pavilion's offerings, focusing on advanced technologies and autonomous systems, having previously presented at the El Alamein International Airshow alongside EDGE and Generation 5.
The Emirati pavilion's uniqueness also lies in the inclusion of entities that are not manufacturers of defense systems. Platforms such as IDEX, UMEX/SIMTEX, and ISNR Abu Dhabi are key event-driven platforms within the Emirati ecosystem, specializing respectively in defense, unmanned systems, simulation, and internal security. Their presence at Marrakech will further promote major events organized in the UAE to international industry players, official delegations, and visitors.
