Introduction of Smart Patrols in Casablanca
On Saturday, the Casablanca Police Prefecture officially launched its innovative smart patrols, "Amane" and "Madar," marking a significant advancement in the modernization of intervention methods employed by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN). This initiative is part of a broader strategy aimed at enhancing the responsiveness of law enforcement, optimizing territorial surveillance, and delivering more effective services to citizens.
Advanced Technology for Enhanced Security
Developed entirely in Morocco by the technical teams of the DGSN, the "Amane" vehicle is equipped with an advanced surveillance system featuring cameras that provide a 360-degree view. This system is linked to software capable of automatically recognizing license plates and conducting facial recognition. Additionally, it harnesses artificial intelligence technologies to instantly analyze data collected during patrols. Complementing this, the "Madar" mobile platform transforms police vehicles into intelligent units for monitoring and control. It is outfitted with high-definition cameras that can simultaneously track movements across multiple traffic lanes, and it includes a panoramic camera that can rotate fully in a matter of seconds to eliminate blind spots. Furthermore, the vehicle's lighting system, designed using 3D printing technology, enhances visibility during operations.
Abderrazak Safsafi, the interim head of the Command and Coordination Center at the Casablanca Police Prefecture, emphasized that these platforms, developed as part of a 100% Moroccan project, represent a significant leap forward in integrating artificial intelligence into security missions. They facilitate real-time data collection and analysis while improving coordination with command centers. Both vehicles also come equipped with a geolocation system and direct access to the DGSN's central database. Following a phase of development, testing, and team training, their deployment, already initiated in Rabat and Tangier, will gradually expand to all cities across the Kingdom. This evolution is particularly timely as Morocco prepares for major international events, especially the World Cup in 2030.
