The Inaugural Sakankom International Real Estate Fair Kicks Off in Agadir
The first edition of the Sakankom International Real Estate Fair, focusing on professional real estate, construction, and public works, commenced on Thursday in Agadir. This event gathered financial institutions, real estate developers, and local authorities, all united in their commitment to shaping the future of the Souss capital. The fair aspires to become an annual gathering dedicated to the development of Agadir, especially in anticipation of the 2030 World Cup—a significant milestone that Morocco aims to leverage for economic and social growth.
A Platform for Growth and Investment
The Sakankom Fair runs from July 23 to 25, under the theme "Agadir - Souss-Massa: a Region at the Heart of Transformation, a Lever for Growth, Investment, and Economic Development." By bringing together key public and private stakeholders from the real estate, construction, urban planning, investment, and financing sectors, the event serves as a strategic platform for forging partnerships that could lead to ambitious projects in the southern region. This fair also presents a unique opportunity for investors, professionals, and citizens to explore the latest real estate programs tailored to fit various budgetary needs. From the very first day, over 50 developers, construction professionals, banking and financial institutions, architects, and consulting firms showcased their exclusive offerings to attendees.
During the fair's opening, Hicham Rahioui Idrissi, CEO of Industricom Group, expressed his excitement about the strong participation from industry players, emphasizing the event's role in enhancing communication among various market participants while providing tangible support to potential buyers and investors. Zahra Kighir, a representative from the Housing and Urban Policy Directorate of the Souss-Massa region, highlighted the dynamic changes Agadir is experiencing due to a series of urban development initiatives. These programs have significantly transformed the city by improving local roadways and establishing public pathways and green spaces.
Regarding social housing programs, Kighir reported that 28,408 units had been completed in Agadir Ida-Outanane, 10,300 units in Inezgane-Aït Melloul, 511 in Chtouka-Aït Baha, and 62 units in Tiznit. She also presented the results of the direct housing assistance program in the region, which has benefited 2,837 citizens, including 1,185 in Agadir Ida-Outanane, amounting to a total of 234.17 million dirhams.
Additionally, Saïd Dor, president of the Regional Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services, underscored the pivotal role of the construction sector in major development projects, including housing and road infrastructure. Driss Bouti, president of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) for the Souss-Massa region, reiterated the significance of this event in Agadir, a city known for its real estate appeal, particularly among Moroccans residing abroad (MRE). He noted that the current momentum in the city foreshadows its imminent transformation into a true metropolis.
