Morocco Brown Appointed as New General Manager for Wisconsin Badgers Football

In a significant development for the Wisconsin Badgers football program, UW Madison officials announced on Thursday the hiring of Morocco Brown as the new general manager. Brown brings with him an impressive 25 years of experience in NFL front offices, having held pivotal roles with various teams including the Indianapolis Colts, Washington Commanders, Cleveland Browns, and Chicago Bears. His extensive background in player personnel and roster management is expected to greatly enhance the Badgers' football operations.

Interim Director of Athletics, Marcus Sedberry, expressed enthusiasm about Brown's appointment, stating, “We are thrilled about bringing an innovative and experienced leader to Wisconsin. Morocco has an incredible depth of knowledge and expertise in building rosters and personnel strategy at the NFL level. He will play a significant role in helping us continue to elevate Wisconsin Football.” In his new role, Brown will oversee all aspects of roster management, player personnel, and operations, collaborating closely with head coach Luke Fickell and his coaching staff to ensure the team's success.

Upon accepting the position, Brown shared his excitement and gratitude, saying, “I’m excited and extremely grateful for the opportunity to join the Wisconsin Badgers football program as their new General Manager. I look forward to working in lockstep with Coach Fickell and truly believe that we can create something special in Madison together. God is great, all things are possible, and let’s go Badger Nation!”

Before joining the Badgers, Brown spent the last eight years with the Indianapolis Colts, where he served as Chief Personnel Executive from 2023 to 2025 and as the Director of College Scouting from 2017 to 2022. His prior experience includes a role as Vice President of Player Personnel for the Cleveland Browns from 2014 to 2016, and as Director of Pro Personnel for the Washington Commanders from 2008 to 2013, during which he contributed to the team's NFC East Championship season in 2012. Brown's NFL journey began in 2001 with the Chicago Bears, where he served as Assistant Director of Pro Personnel until 2008, helping the team secure three NFC North titles and reach the Super Bowl in 2007.

Coach Luke Fickell also expressed his confidence in Brown, stating, “Morocco is a great addition to our program and our staff is looking forward to working with him. He brings a lot of NFL experience and has an eye for what it takes to excel at both the collegiate level as well as professional football. He has been evaluating college players for years and will be a strong asset to both our current roster as well as building for the future.”
