In a notable surge, the airport platforms across Morocco welcomed 22.28 million passengers from January to July 2026, marking an impressive increase of 8.77% compared to the same period in 2025, as reported by the National Office of Airports (ONDA) in its July commercial air traffic statistics released on Friday, August 28.

The majority of this traffic is attributed to international flights, which accounted for 19.89 million travelers, reflecting an 8.82% year-on-year increase. Domestic connections also showed growth, transporting 2.39 million passengers, which is an increase of 8.36% from the previous year. Notably, July alone, coinciding with the peak of summer returns and the tourist season, recorded a total of 3.45 million passengers.

Casablanca's Mohammed V Airport continues to be the primary gateway to the country, processing 6.95 million passengers, followed by Marrakech-Menara with 6.41 million. Other airports contributing to the traffic include Agadir–Al-Massira with 2.18 million, Tangier–Ibn-Battouta with 1.71 million, and Rabat-Salé with 1.45 million. The international traffic growth was significantly fueled by the European market, which remains the largest source of travelers, delivering 16.54 million passengers, a rise of 9.29% compared to the previous year, according to ONDA.

Furthermore, the total number of aircraft movements at Moroccan airports reached 164,164 by the end of July, showcasing a year-on-year increase of 9.82%. This includes 55,223 movements at Mohammed V, 42,028 at Marrakech-Menara, and 15,009 at Agadir–Al-Massira. Air freight also saw a substantial rise, totaling 66,980 tonnes over the first seven months of the year, representing an increase of 12.61% compared to the same period in 2025.

These statistics build on a successful 2025, during which Moroccan airports welcomed 36.3 million passengers, a significant increase from 32.7 million the year before. This growth trend is seen as a clear indication of a solid and sustainable growth trajectory. The board of directors of ONDA met on May 25 in Rabat to review the action plan and budget for the 2026 fiscal year, alongside progress towards its transformation into a public limited company, especially as the country prepares for significant international sporting events, including the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted with Spain and Portugal.
