Marrakech-Safi Region Launches Ambitious Tree Planting Initiative for Youth Centers

Marrakech-Safi's Green Initiative: Planting 5,000 Trees

The Marrakech-Safi region of Morocco is making strides toward environmental sustainability with the launch of an ambitious campaign focused on planting 5,000 fruit trees in youth centers throughout the area. This initiative, spearheaded by the regional directorate of the Youth Department, is designed not only to enhance the local environment but also to foster awareness and engagement among the youth regarding ecological responsibility and sustainable practices.

In collaboration with the High Atlas Foundation, this project is part of the broader "Racines montantes" program, which is generously funded by The Big Heart Foundation. The campaign aims to empower local youth by involving them in sustainable environmental initiatives while simultaneously promoting the concept of ecological citizenship. The involvement of various volunteer clubs and local civil society organizations, including the Al Firdaous association, highlights the community's commitment to fostering a greener future.

During the campaign launch in Marrakech, discussions centered on the pivotal role that youth institutions play in advancing sustainable development and nurturing a green economy. Aziz El Mouatassim, the regional youth director, emphasized that this initiative is pivotal in instilling a sense of environmental awareness and responsibility among young people. Given the favorable rainfall conditions this year, officials are optimistic that the newly planted trees will thrive, contributing positively to the region's ecology and landscape.
