Lebanon's Minister Participates in Global Conference to End Child Labor

The Lebanese Minister of Labor, Dr. Mohammad Haidar, is actively participating in the sixth global conference aimed at eradicating child labor, which commenced in Marrakech, Morocco. This significant event has drawn a wide array of participation from labor ministers and high-ranking representatives from various countries around the globe, alongside the Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Director-General of the Arab Labour Organization, as well as a multitude of representatives from international and regional organizations and field experts.

Scheduled from February 11 to 13, 2026, this conference is being jointly hosted by the Government of Morocco and the ILO with the primary goal of accelerating international efforts to eliminate all forms of child labor. It emphasizes the importance of sharing experiences, showcasing best practices, and fostering partnerships among countries and relevant institutions to combat this pressing issue.

During the conference, Minister Haidar is set to deliver a speech representing Lebanon, where he will outline the current state of child labor in Lebanon, discuss the measures and initiatives implemented by the Ministry of Labor in collaboration with national and international stakeholders, and address the challenges Lebanon faces amidst the prevailing economic and social conditions. Furthermore, he will highlight ways to enhance international cooperation to support national programs aimed at this critical issue.

Additionally, Minister Haidar plans to engage in a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the conference with several of his counterparts, as well as officials from the ILO and the Arab Labour Organization. These discussions will focus on strengthening collaborative efforts and developing mechanisms for technical and financial support for Lebanon, which will contribute to enhancing social protection, combating child labor, and promoting decent work.

Lebanon's participation in this conference underscores its commitment to relevant international agreements and its determination to continue collaborating with international partners to achieve shared goals, particularly the elimination of child labor.
