Manufacturing Industries: Anticipated Increase in Production for Q2 2026

Manufacturing Industries Forecasts for Q2 2026

On June 4, 2026, the High Commission for Planning released optimistic projections regarding the manufacturing sector, indicating an expected rise in production during the second quarter of 2026. This anticipated growth is primarily attributed to improvements in several key areas, including the food processing industries, chemical manufacturing, automotive production, and the electrical equipment sector. However, it is noteworthy that a decline is expected in the production of paper and cardboard, as well as in textile manufacturing.

Regarding employment forecasts, industrial leaders predict a stabilization in job numbers, suggesting that while production may increase, it will not necessarily drive a corresponding rise in employment within the manufacturing sector.

In contrast, the extractive industries foresee a decrease in production for the same quarter, largely due to a projected decline in phosphate production. Employment in this sector is also expected to decline as companies adjust to the less favorable production environment.

Turning to the energy sector, expectations for the second quarter of 2026 indicate a potential increase in production, driven by advancements in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply and distribution. However, it is projected that employment in this sector may see a downturn during the same period.

Furthermore, the environmental industry appears to be on a steady path, with forecasts suggesting stable production levels, particularly in water collection, treatment, and distribution activities, alongside stable employment figures.

The High Commission for Planning notes that manufacturing production may have experienced stability in the first quarter of 2026, with increases in chemical production, electrical equipment manufacturing, and clothing production offset by declines in automotive production and the manufacturing of rubber and plastic products, as well as metallic products, excluding machinery and equipment.

As for order books within the manufacturing sector, business leaders have reported that they remain at a normal level, indicating steady demand. Overall, employment appears stable, with the utilization rate of production capacity in the manufacturing sector recorded at 74%.
