Exciting Developments in Golf: Asian Tour Partners with IGPL for Tournaments in Morocco

Asian Tour and IGPL Join Forces for Moroccan Golf Tournaments

The Asian Tour is set to make significant strides in its partnership with the Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) as they prepare to host two thrilling tournaments in consecutive weeks at the picturesque Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort in El Jadida, Morocco. This collaboration marks a pivotal moment in the development of golf in the region, with the Am Green IGPL Morocco Rising Stars 2026 kicking off the action from May 28 to May 31. This event will be co-sanctioned by both the Asian Development Tour (ADT) and the IGPL, promising an exciting showcase of emerging talent.

Following this inaugural event, the Bharath Classic, boasting a prize fund of US$500,000, will take place from June 4 to June 7, marking its second edition. Originally held in Ahmedabad last year during its inaugural season, the Bharath Classic has now found a new home in Casablanca, allowing for improved logistics and player movement across the tournament schedule. Last year, Thailand's Poosit Supupramai clinched victory, and this year’s event is anticipated to attract even more elite competitors.

Building Golf’s Future in Morocco

The excitement continues as the International Series Morocco wraps up this thrilling three-week golf swing at the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam (Red Course) from June 11 to June 14. Cho Minn Thant, Commissioner & CEO of the Asian Tour, expressed enthusiasm about these developments, stating, "This is an exciting development for both the Asian Tour and Asian Development Tour. We are thrilled to be able to offer our members three successive weeks of playing opportunities in Morocco, where golf continues to make such great progress through the leadership of the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation and Hassan II Golf Trophy Association." He further acknowledged the IGPL's efforts in fostering golf growth in India and beyond, highlighting their flexibility in scheduling and relocating the Bharath Classic.

In a strategic move to enhance competitive opportunities, the tournament will also provide invites to the Bharath Classic for the top two non-exempt players finishing in the top 10 of the Am Green IGPL Morocco Rising Stars 2026. With a prize pool of US$160,000, the ADT event builds on the tour's successful debut in Morocco last year, which featured two Morocco Rising Stars Marrakech tournaments won by Aidric Chan and Carl Jano Corpus from the Philippines. This evolving relationship between the Asian Tour and IGPL is set to reshape the golf landscape in the region, providing players with unprecedented opportunities and fostering a vibrant golf community.
