A Positive Week for the Casablanca Stock Exchange
The Casablanca Stock Exchange concluded the week spanning from July 20 to July 24, 2026, with notable gains, as its benchmark index, the MASI, rose by 0.93% to reach 17,743.11 points. This upward trend reflects a robust performance across various sectors and individual stocks.
In addition to the MASI, the MASI 20, which tracks the performance of the 20 most liquid companies, saw an increase of 1.12%, climbing to 1,317.16 points. Furthermore, the MASI ESG index, which focuses on companies with strong environmental, social, and governance practices, appreciated by 1.76%, ending the week at 1,266.33 points. Meanwhile, the MASI Mid and Small Cap index, which measures the performance of small and medium-sized listed enterprises, experienced a slight uptick of 0.01%, finishing at 1,752.13 points.
Sector-wise, the "Electricity" and "Forestry and Paper" sectors led the gains, each surging by 4%, followed closely by the "Leisure and Hotels" sector, which increased by 2.87%. Conversely, the "Financial Services and Other Financial Activities" sector faced the most significant decline, dropping by 3.53%. This was followed by the "Holding Companies" sector, which fell by 3.52%, and the "Food Production" sector, which decreased by 2.67%.
Trading volume during this week exceeded 605.4 million dirhams, primarily concentrated in the central "Equities" market, with substantial transactions involving Attijariwafa Bank (12.3%), CIH (11.17%), and Sodep-Marsa Maroc (10.43%). The total market capitalization hovered around 1,015.8 billion dirhams.
In terms of individual stock performances, Zellidja exhibited the highest increase, soaring by 13.03% to 203.45 dirhams, followed by Involys with a 7.02% rise to 129.5 dirhams, and Auto Nejma, which advanced by 5.88% to 5,400 dirhams. On the downside, the most significant losses were registered by Cosumar, which dipped by 6.21% to 181.95 dirhams, followed by Salafin (-5.49% to 430 dirhams), S2M (-5.2% to 459.8 dirhams), Eqdom (-3.81% to 1,539 dirhams), and Delta Holding (-3.64% to 53 dirhams).
