Wisconsin Badgers Football Welcomes Morocco Brown as New General Manager

Wisconsin Badgers Football Program Appoints Morocco Brown

The University of Wisconsin has made a significant move in its football program by appointing Morocco Brown, a seasoned NFL executive, as the new General Manager. Announced on June 3, this pivotal hiring aims to enhance the management of player personnel and football operations, with Brown collaborating closely with head coach Luke Fickell and his coaching staff. With a wealth of experience spanning 25 years in the NFL, Brown is expected to bring innovative strategies and insights to the Badgers.

Brown's most recent tenure was spent with the Indianapolis Colts, where he served as Chief Personnel Executive from 2023 to 2025, following his role as Director of College Scouting. His extensive career also includes significant positions such as Vice President of Player Personnel for the Cleveland Browns and Director of Pro Personnel for the Washington Commanders. Additionally, during his seven-year stint with the Chicago Bears, Brown contributed to the team's journey to the Super Bowl in the 2006 season, further cementing his reputation as a knowledgeable leader in player development.

Interim Athletic Director Marcus Sedberry praised Brown as an "innovative and experienced leader," emphasizing his deep understanding of roster building and personnel strategy. Sedberry expressed enthusiasm about Brown's appointment, stating, "Morocco has an incredible depth of knowledge and expertise at the NFL level. He will play a significant role in helping us continue to elevate Wisconsin Football." Coach Luke Fickell echoed these sentiments, noting that Brown’s extensive NFL background and experience in evaluating college talent will greatly benefit both the current team and future recruitment efforts.

Expressing his excitement about joining the Badgers, Brown stated, "I’m excited and extremely grateful for the opportunity to join the Wisconsin Badgers football program as their new General Manager. I look forward to working in lockstep with Coach Fickell and truly believe that we can create something special in Madison together. God is great, all things are possible, and let’s go Badger Nation!" This appointment aligns with a growing trend in college football, where programs are increasingly leveraging general managers to oversee recruiting strategies, roster assembly, and player compensation amidst the evolving landscape shaped by NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) regulations and the transfer portal.
