Intensive Working Sessions Conclude Candidate Designations
In a significant development for the USFP party, an intensive two-day working session was held on May 25 and 26, 2023, in Casablanca, aimed at finalizing the candidate selections for the pending local constituencies in the Casablanca-Settat region. This crucial meeting was presided over by Ahmed El Mehdi Mezouari, the regional secretary of the party, who guided discussions and decision-making processes.
The working group engaged in a thorough evaluation of the submitted candidacy files, applying the party's traditional criteria which emphasize representativeness, territorial anchoring, and militant commitment. After extensive deliberations over the two days, the group reached decisions regarding five constituencies that had previously remained without official nominations.
These nominations highlight the party's commitment to presenting a diverse array of candidates, combining both competence and a range of backgrounds. Notably, among the five selected candidates, two are women: Aïcha Guellaa for the Nouaceur constituency and Latifa Cherif for Anfa. This decision underscores the USFP’s dedication to enhancing female representation in elected bodies, marking a progressive step towards gender equality within the political landscape.
With these recent designations, the USFP's candidate selection process for the Casablanca-Settat region has now come to a close. The party is poised to approach the upcoming electoral deadline with a slate of candidates who are resolutely committed to upholding the values of progressivism, democracy, and equality that lie at the heart of the Ittihadi political project.
