Spanish Delegation Explores Morocco's Economic Landscape
With just four years remaining until the much-anticipated 2030 World Cup, which will take place in Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, the prospects for Moroccan-Spanish business collaboration appear to be flourishing. Recently, a delegation from the Spanish Entrepreneurs Circle, led by its president, Juan María Nin Génova, participated in a new edition of the Business Discovery program. This initiative included institutional and business meetings in key Moroccan cities such as Tangier, Rabat, and Casablanca.
The Business Discovery program aims to bridge Spanish entrepreneurs with strategic markets, providing them with firsthand insights into the crucial economic and institutional dynamics at play in Morocco. The initiative also seeks to foster new opportunities for international collaboration, particularly as Morocco undergoes significant economic transformation.
The Spanish delegation engaged in an intensive program across Tangier, Rabat, and Casablanca, three pivotal cities that exemplify Morocco's recent industrial, economic, and logistical advancements. Throughout their visit, the delegation met with prominent institutional and economic representatives from both Spain and Morocco. Notable figures included Enrique Ojeda Vila, the Spanish ambassador to Rabat; Aurora Díaz-Rato, the Spanish consul general in Tangier; Nadia Fettah Alaoui, Morocco's Minister of Economy and Finance; Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Commerce; and Nezha Hayat, Director General of the Mohammed VI Investment Fund.
In addition to meetings, the program featured visits to significant institutions and enterprises, such as the Tanger Med port, the Renault factory in Tangier, Attijariwafa Bank, and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM). These interactions allowed the delegation to connect with Moroccan entrepreneurs and gain insights into the local business environment.
Exploring Opportunities for Spanish Businesses
The main objective of this Business Discovery edition was to gain first-hand knowledge of Morocco's economic modernization process and its emerging role as a vital industrial and logistical hub linking Europe and Africa. The program highlighted the myriad opportunities available for Spanish businesses in sectors such as infrastructure, industry, energy, automotive, financial services, investment, and bilateral trade.
For the Entrepreneurs Circle, these types of encounters provide significant value for Spanish companies by offering direct access to high-level institutional and economic stakeholders. Such meetings facilitate the identification of concrete investment and cooperation opportunities while enhancing understanding of the economic, regulatory, and strategic frameworks of high-growth potential markets.
According to Juan Maria Genova, president of the Spanish Entrepreneurs Circle, "Morocco represents a major opportunity to deepen bilateral economic relations and strengthen the positioning of Spanish companies as key players in a particularly dynamic region." He further emphasized, "These missions enable our members to grasp the realities of markets more closely, establish lasting trust-based relationships, and identify new prospects for international development." The Entrepreneurs Circle views Morocco as a strategic partner for Spain, not only due to its geographical proximity but also because of the complementary nature of their economies and Morocco's position as a crossroads between Europe, Africa, and the Atlantic.
