International Military Force for Gaza Stabilization Gains Momentum

The international involvement in a military force aimed at stabilizing the Gaza Strip is steadily increasing. Recently, military personnel from Morocco arrived in Israel to aid in planning for future operations, as reported by the 'Board of Peace,' an initiative launched by former U.S. President Donald Trump. In addition to Morocco, other countries such as Indonesia and Albania have also expressed their willingness to participate in this stabilization effort for Gaza.

The relationship between Israel and Morocco was officially normalized in December 2020 as part of the so-called Abraham Accords. Since then, both nations have significantly enhanced their collaboration across various sectors, including security, economy, tourism, and technology. This partnership is further enriched by historical ties; Morocco once hosted one of the largest Jewish communities in the Arab world, and today, hundreds of thousands of Israelis have Moroccan heritage. However, the ongoing Gaza conflict has strained these relations.

The International Stabilization Force (ISF) is intended to ensure security in the region as part of broader efforts to resolve the Gaza conflict. The establishment of the Board of Peace by Trump months ago has been met with criticism, particularly as it is perceived as a rival to the United Nations, which Trump has openly criticized. Notably, Germany is not a member of the Board of Peace, which Trump chairs, and the council is tasked with overseeing the reconstruction and post-war order in the Gaza Strip.

While the timeline for the deployment of this military force remains uncertain, the Islamist terrorist organization Hamas has rejected disarmament outlined in the peace plan. Concurrently, Israel has been continuously expanding the territory it controls within the Gaza Strip, reportedly now comprising 70 percent of the coastal enclave, according to the news portal 'Walla.'

The Gaza conflict was ignited by a massacre perpetrated by Hamas and other extremist organizations on October 7, 2023, resulting in the deaths of approximately 1,200 individuals in Israel and the abduction of over 250 others into Gaza. Israel subsequently claimed to have attacked Hamas positions in retaliation. According to the health authority controlled by Hamas, more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip, including numerous women and children. Although a ceasefire has been in place since October 2025, daily Israeli attacks and confrontations continue.
