Strengthening Democratic Governance: The Launch of the 5th Election Observer Training Cycle in Africa

On April 20th, Nasser Bourita co-chaired the opening ceremony of the 5th specialized training cycle for election observers in Africa, held in Rabat. This event was conducted in collaboration with Bankole Adeoye, the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace, and Security of the African Union. The training cycle represents a significant partnership between Morocco and the African Union Commission, aimed at enhancing democratic governance across the continent.

This initiative not only aims to improve the quality of electoral observation but also contributes to an ambitious dynamic that seeks to solidify democratic governance in Africa. Each year, the program benefits a growing number of participants from all five sub-regions of the continent, effectively strengthening the continental base of qualified election observers who are prepared to be deployed during elections in various African countries. The training is crucial as it equips these observers with the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure that electoral processes are conducted fairly and transparently.
