Spain's Recent Migrant Returns to Morocco
In a significant development regarding the ongoing migration crisis, Spain has reported the return of more than 5,000 irregular migrants to Morocco in recent weeks. According to Ángel Víctor Torres, the Spanish Minister of Territorial Policy, approximately 5,320 individuals who had entered Ceuta illegally during the peak of the migratory surge at the end of July have been repatriated to Morocco. This announcement highlights the Spanish government's commitment to addressing the challenges posed by irregular migration.
Current State of Migrants in Ceuta
In addition to the repatriations, Torres noted that a recent operation involved nearly 1,000 migrants being temporarily relocated from the streets of Ceuta to a secure facility. As reported by Sputnik, the total number of individuals currently under state custody has reached around 4,500, with 2,000 of these being minors. Torres emphasized that those who do not meet the legal requirements to remain in Spain would be returned to Morocco, reinforcing the government's objective to restore the situation in Ceuta to the normalcy experienced at the beginning of July.
