Surge in Passenger Numbers at Essaouira-Mogador Airport
Essaouira-Mogador International Airport has reported an impressive increase of 11.97% in passenger traffic as of the end of April this year, compared to the same period last year, according to data released by the National Airports Office. The statistics indicate that the airport welcomed a total of 97,881 passengers during the first four months of this year, a notable rise from the 87,420 passengers recorded in the corresponding timeframe the previous year.
Specifically, in April alone, the number of travelers passing through Essaouira-Mogador Airport reached 32,065, marking a substantial increase of 25.29% compared to 25,593 passengers in April 2025. These figures highlight the dominance of international flights at this airport, with a total of 97,641 international travelers recorded, reflecting a growth of 14.41%. In contrast, domestic flights saw a sharp decline, with only 240,000 passengers, representing a staggering decrease of 88.43%.
In terms of flight operations, the airport experienced a rise of 16.31%, with a total of 756 air movements recorded up to the end of April 2026, compared to 650 flights during the same period last year. On a national scale, commercial air traffic across the kingdom’s airports totaled 12,336,962 passengers by the end of April 2026, showcasing an increase of 9.7% compared to the same timeframe last year.
