New Drilling Initiatives Set to Commence in Morocco and Trinidad
Predator Oil & Gas Holdings, a Jersey-based oil and gas company involved in hydrocarbon production and exploration in Trinidad and Morocco, has recently updated its stakeholders about significant developments in its drilling operations. The company has finalized an amendment to its existing contract with Intrepid Drilling Limited regarding Rig 101, which is currently stationed at the MOU-5 well site. This amendment, originally dated October 24, 2022, extends the drilling operations for the MOU-6 well from August 1, 2026, to October 1, 2026, marking a crucial step in the company’s exploration efforts.
The upcoming drilling program promises to be extensive, with plans to complete substantial testing activities over the next three months in both Morocco (MOU-6) and Trinidad (Snowcap-3). The MOU-6 well will serve as the inaugural site for this drilling program, followed closely by operations at Snowcap-3. Rig 101 is expected to begin its operations shortly after August 1, 2026, pending the arrival of essential consumables and long-lead equipment, which are currently in transit to the MOU-6 site.
Paul Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer of Predator Oil & Gas Holdings Plc, expressed his enthusiasm about entering this new phase of drilling activities across two continents. He noted that the past 15 months have been focused on rebuilding their well-delivery team, leveraging expertise from Trinidad, Morocco, Tunisia, and Canada. Griffiths conveyed confidence in the well planning and pre-drill operational strategies, which are now aligned with the anticipated subsurface conditions based on initial drilling experiences from 2021 to 2023. He emphasized that successful drilling and testing of geological objectives could significantly mitigate the risks associated with gas and oil resources, potentially paving the way for rapid production, contingent upon receiving the necessary regulatory approvals and completing technical and commercial due diligence.
