Major Development Projects Across Moroccan Provinces
In celebration of the Throne Day, various provinces in Morocco have initiated an array of development projects aimed at improving education, healthcare, infrastructure, water supply, tourism, and social inclusion. Notably, the province of Taza has inaugurated and launched fifteen social, economic, and tourism-related projects with a total investment exceeding 297 million dirhams. Key developments include the opening of a new student residence capable of accommodating over a hundred students, the rehabilitation of a center designed to combat school dropouts in rural areas, and the implementation of several road projects with an investment surpassing 271 million dirhams, aimed at enhancing the road network and facilitating access to rural regions.
Additionally, Taza province unveiled a project dedicated to the conditioning and security of the Friouato Cave, alongside initiatives to improve its surroundings. The local authorities have also supported four young entrepreneurs by financing initiatives related to carpentry, nature tourism, restoration, and event organization. These efforts reflect a commitment to foster local economic development and enhance tourism potential.
Investments in Education and Health
In Taounate, authorities launched development projects valued at over 155 million dirhams, with significant highlights being the provision of 20 new school buses. This initiative, presided over by the provincial governor Abdelkrim El Ghannami, was made possible through an investment exceeding 7.82 million dirhams as part of the fourth phase of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH). These new buses are expected to bolster access to education, promote enrollment, and combat school dropout rates, especially among girls in rural areas. The provincial fleet now boasts 333 school buses serving 20,781 students, of which 10,727 are girls, with plans to add 20 more vehicles by 2026.
Governor El Ghannami also visited the construction site of the first phase of the Taounate bypass, which is currently 30% completed. This infrastructure, with a total investment of 175 million dirhams, aims to modernize sewage systems, drinking water supply, and telecommunications networks while constructing retaining walls to enhance urban mobility, road safety, and the economic and tourism attractiveness of the city. Furthermore, a second-level rural health center has been inaugurated in Ourtzagh, and 11 new-generation health centers have been rehabilitated and equipped with an investment exceeding 37 million dirhams. Funded by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, these projects are part of a broader strategy to modernize primary healthcare services, expand healthcare offerings, and improve access to services.
In Settat, Governor Mohamed Ali Habouha presided over the inauguration of projects focused on enhancing drinking water supply, improving road infrastructure, and expanding social facilities. Among the primary initiatives is the commencement of construction for new drinking water reservoirs and pumping stations in Lahouaza, El Brouj, and Settat city. These projects are expected to significantly increase storage capacity, improve supply autonomy, and ensure access to potable water for several municipalities within the province. In conjunction with these efforts, a proximity office for the Regional Multi-service Society Casablanca-Settat was inaugurated in Dar Chaffai to facilitate citizens' access to administrative and commercial services.
Moreover, the expansion and reinforcement of the regional road 316 have begun, which will benefit nearly 600,000 residents by improving circulation and reducing isolation in several localities. In the social sphere, Governor Habouha laid the first stone for a specialized center for children with autism spectrum disorders in Ben Ahmed, funded by the INDH, and initiated the construction of a training center for women in Ouled Mrah, aimed at promoting their economic and social integration through training and literacy programs. The head of the Social Action Division in Settat, Noureddine Ben Saïd, emphasized that these multi-sector projects are designed to enhance the quality of life for residents while reflecting the development dynamics of the province.
In El Hajeb, Governor Omar El Merini oversaw the inauguration of several social projects driven by the INDH, including a Development Center for Children and Youth, built with an investment of 3.8 million dirhams, which will benefit around 600 students through dedicated spaces for arts, music, languages, computing, and robotics to foster creativity and skill development. Authorities also opened a Multidisciplinary Center for the Socioeconomic Integration of Women in Bitit, equipped with 4.2 million dirhams, providing guidance and vocational training services in areas such as computing, cooking, sewing, and hairdressing to facilitate employment opportunities for vulnerable women. The day concluded with the inauguration of a new Civil Protection center in Agouraï, built on a 1,633 square meter site and equipped with modern facilities, with an investment close to 1.5 million dirhams to enhance emergency response capabilities and bring these services closer to the population.
Through these initiatives, various Moroccan provinces reaffirm their commitment to improving the living conditions of the population, promoting local development, and strengthening essential services in alignment with the celebration of the 27th anniversary of the Throne Day.
