Formation of a New Government Majority in Morocco
The announcement of a new government majority in Morocco was officially made on the evening of October 12, 2026. This new coalition comprises four political parties: the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), the Istiqlal Party, the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP), and the Progress and Socialism Party (PPS). This decision comes on the heels of two rounds of political consultations conducted by the designated Prime Minister, Fatima-Zahra Mansouri.
A statement released regarding the formation of this majority highlighted that discussions focused on the various challenges and obstacles that Morocco faces today. The aim was to create a political majority that is coherent and capable of addressing the expectations of its citizens. This initiative is rooted in the current national and international context, reflecting the popular will expressed during the legislative elections held on September 23, as well as lessons learned from past governmental experiences.
Moreover, the newly formed coalition is built on a shared intellectual and political convergence among its members, unified by a common reform vision. This vision emphasizes the enhancement of democratic institutions, good governance, social justice, territorial equity, and the development of the national economy's productive capacities. Each of the four parties is committed to proposing candidates for ministerial positions who possess the necessary skills, political awareness, integrity, and moral character, ensuring the establishment of a competent and robust government capable of implementing the upcoming governmental program.
