New Commercial Mission to Morocco 2026: Opportunities for Extremadura's SMEs

Extremadura's Participation in the Morocco 2026 Commercial Mission

The Official Diary of Extremadura (DOE) has announced the opening of applications for the Extremadura Avante Advanced Services for SMEs SLU to participate in the group mission to Morocco in 2026. This initiative is designed to promote the internationalization of businesses from Extremadura and to boost the growth of their exports. The direct commercial missions aim to foster and enhance the business landscape of the region by facilitating the expansion of local products and services into new markets.

Scheduled to take place in Casablanca from September 14 to 18, 2026, the Morocco Commercial Mission seeks to explore the Moroccan market and establish connections for introducing or consolidating the participating companies' products and services within the country. The maximum number of participants for this mission is capped at eight, ensuring a diverse representation across various sectors, including chemical industry, food and beverage, construction, wholesale trade, business services, and recreational/cultural services.

Strengthening Trade Relations Between Spain and Morocco

Companies involved in this mission will benefit from professional promotional services, market advisory, and logistical support, all aimed at optimizing their commercial presence during their stay in Morocco. Currently, Spain remains Morocco's primary trading partner, with bilateral trade exceeding 22.7 billion euros in 2025. This figure underscores the growing economic integration between the two nations on an international scale, with Spain exporting approximately 12.33 billion euros worth of goods to Morocco in 2025.

This positions Morocco as one of the leading non-EU destinations for Spanish exports and as Spain's top trading partner in Africa. More than 350 Spanish companies have established operations in Morocco, particularly in sectors like renewable energy, infrastructure, automotive supply, and services, thereby contributing to economic development and strengthening the bilateral market.

The commercial ties between Spain and Morocco continue to demonstrate sustained growth and high intensity, driven by geographical proximity, the integration of value chains, and the gradual opening of the Moroccan economy. Spain also maintains its role as Morocco's top supplier, reinforcing the strategic significance of this market for the Spanish export sector.

In summary, Morocco has solidified its status as a "strategic trading partner" for both Spain and Extremadura, owing to its dynamic economy and its role as a gateway to other markets in North Africa. It is important to note that the application period for this opportunity will last six business days from the publication date in the DOE, starting from Monday, April 20, until April 27, both dates inclusive, as stated in a press release from the Junta.
