In a remarkable development, Essaouira-Mogador International Airport has reported an impressive increase of 11.97% in passenger numbers by the end of April 2026, compared to the same period last year. According to data from the National Airports Office, the airport welcomed a total of 97,881 travelers in the first four months of 2026, up from 87,420 during the corresponding period in the previous year. Specifically, in April alone, the airport recorded 32,065 passengers, marking a substantial rise of 25.29% compared to the 25,593 travelers recorded in April 2025.
The statistics highlight a significant dominance of international flights at the airport, with a total of 97,641 international travelers, reflecting a 14.41% increase. In contrast, the number of domestic passengers plummeted to 240,000, which represents a staggering decrease of 88.43%. Additionally, the airport has seen a notable rise in flight operations, with a 16.31% increase in air traffic, totaling 756 movements by the end of April 2026, compared to 650 flights during the same period last year.
On a national scale, Morocco's airports collectively recorded a commercial air traffic increase to 12,336,962 passengers by the end of April 2026, which is an increase of 9.7% compared to the previous year.
