Morocco Emerges as a Trusted Hub for Infrastructure, Research, and Innovation

Morocco's Transformation into a Reliable Platform

On a significant day in Marrakech, Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch proclaimed that Morocco has evolved into a reliable platform for high-value infrastructure, scientific research, and innovation. Speaking at the opening of the fourth edition of the "GITEX Africa Morocco" exhibition, held under the auspices of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Akhannouch expressed Morocco's readiness to welcome investors from the digital sector. This readiness, he emphasized, is a product of the country’s solid institutional stability, driven by the visionary leadership of the King, who has made Morocco a land of trust and hospitality.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the government has established a strong foundation to prioritize the digital sector in both budgetary and institutional frameworks. He asserted that Morocco is well-equipped with skilled professionals, including a new generation of developers, engineers, and entrepreneurs who possess both ambition and capability, along with the necessary stability and infrastructure. Notably, efforts are underway to expand fiber optic networks and launch 5G technology, complemented by green energy projects designed to power critical infrastructure centers.

Embracing Technological Sovereignty

Akhannouch further articulated that, in line with royal directives, Morocco has adopted a strategic approach to mastering the artificial intelligence revolution rather than succumbing to it. This includes a commitment to technological sovereignty and independence in decision-making and innovation. As a result of this proactive stance, Morocco has improved its position by 14 places on the Government AI Readiness Index for 2025, reflecting advancements in strategy, governance, and institutional capabilities.

He referenced several impactful initiatives launched by Morocco in the field of artificial intelligence, including the establishment of the JAZARI ROOT Institute, which signifies Morocco's shift from planning to structured implementation and building national competencies. Additionally, the initiative "AI Made in Morocco" showcases a clear political will to leverage artificial intelligence as a tool for national sovereignty, promote equitable regional development, and support the comprehensive development trajectory of the kingdom.

In conclusion, Akhannouch asserted that the "GITEX Africa" exhibition was conceived with a core idea: to provide Africa with a platform to express itself. After four successful editions, he believes this goal has been achieved, as Africa is rich in youth, energy, and ambition. What is now needed are digital pathways, targeted funding for entrepreneurs, and training programs that create real job opportunities, alongside markets that are interconnected and supportive of one another.
