Moroccan Consulate in Almeria Implements Exceptional Accessibility Program
The Moroccan Consulate General in Almeria is actively executing a special program aimed at facilitating access for Moroccan expatriates residing in this southern Spanish province to various consular services. This initiative, which operates during weekends, reflects the ongoing efforts of Moroccan consular services to align their offerings with the increasing needs of Moroccans living abroad, ensuring that these services are delivered with speed and quality.
This initiative is part of the broader strategy pursued by the Kingdom of Morocco, following the directives of King Mohammed VI, to place the concerns of Moroccan citizens living abroad at the forefront of consular activities, thereby strengthening their connection to their homeland. Additionally, it embodies the implementation of instructions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, which focus on modernizing services, simplifying procedures, and adapting them to the professional constraints faced by users.
In a recent press statement, the Consul General of Morocco in Almeria, Soumia Fathi, emphasized that all staff and consulate employees are mobilized to ensure the smooth operation of this initiative. Notably, the program features extended reception hours and organized shifts during weekends to provide optimal service conditions and ensure effective processing of requests, responding to the expectations of the Moroccan community in this region, which has a significant number of Moroccan citizens.
Furthermore, Fathi highlighted that the issuance of documents now including an apostille stamp will contribute to simplifying administrative procedures for the users. Since February 11, over 13,000 requests have been registered at the Moroccan Consulate in Almeria, with processing capacity reaching nearly 700 cases per day, illustrating the scale of mobilization and engagement within this initiative.
In parallel, civil society organizations have also mobilized efforts to support this process, particularly through the issuance of certificates of vulnerability for affected individuals. Numerous Moroccan expatriates who have benefited from these services have praised the quality of the reception and the effectiveness of the mechanisms in place, commending the continuous care that King Mohammed VI extends to Moroccans living abroad.
