Money Fellows Partners with Wafacash to Revolutionize Savings in Morocco

Transforming Traditional Savings Practices into Digital Solutions

In a significant development for Morocco's fintech landscape, Egyptian startup Money Fellows has secured regulatory approval from Bank Al-Maghrib, allowing it to introduce its innovative digital savings model in the Kingdom. This strategic partnership with local financial powerhouse Wafacash aims to digitize the traditional savings practice known as 'Daret', transitioning it into a regulated and secure digital format. This initiative was officially announced during the GITEX Africa event, highlighting the collaborative effort to foster financial inclusion while enhancing the reliability and transparency of community savings.

The collaboration is designed to complement and enhance existing saving practices rather than replace them. By integrating digital management mechanisms and scoring systems, Money Fellows and Wafacash are committed to improving user experience and accountability within the savings process. Utilizing Money Fellows' specialized platform, which digitizes community savings and credit circles—often referred to as 'gameaya'—along with Wafacash’s robust infrastructure known for its money transfer and payment services, this partnership seeks to create a model that is not only secure but also scalable.

Ahmed Wadi, the founder and CEO of Money Fellows, emphasized the transformative nature of this initiative, stating, “We are moving from a partial model based on limited circles to a system capable of scaling and wide adoption, representing a real evolution of the traditional financial model.” Abdesslam Bouirig, CEO of Wafacash, echoed this sentiment, noting that both companies share a common goal of evolving deeply-rooted social financial practices into a digital framework that is simpler, more transparent, secure, and scalable. This strategic move follows Money Fellows’ successful operations in Egypt, where the company has catered to over one million users and formed a vast network of more than 350 local and regional partners.
