Launch of National Vocational Training Program in Traditional Crafts Sector

On the morning of Friday, June 12, 2026, the Training and Qualification Center for Traditional Crafts in Marrakech hosted the official launch of the National Vocational Training Program in the traditional crafts sector for the period spanning 2026 to 2030. This significant event was attended by various officials and stakeholders in the sector, including Lahcen Saadi, the Secretary of State responsible for traditional crafts and social and solidarity economy, and Younes Skouri, the Minister of Economic Integration, Small Enterprises, Employment, and Skills. Also present were Mohamed Idrissi, the first deputy mayor of Marrakech, along with representatives from public institutions and relevant professional bodies.

This new national program is part of ongoing efforts aimed at enhancing vocational training within the traditional crafts sector. It seeks to equip young individuals with the essential skills and experiences required to integrate into the labor market. The program utilizes a dual approach that combines theoretical training with practical application within craft units, enabling participants to gain firsthand experience in their respective fields.

During the meeting, the primary objectives and main frameworks of the five-year program were outlined, which focuses on developing craft competencies, fostering entrepreneurial spirit among youth, and contributing to the creation of new economic and social integration opportunities. Additionally, the program aims to keep pace with the economic and technological transformations occurring in the sector while ensuring the preservation of Morocco's artisanal heritage and safeguarding traditional professions from extinction. This is achieved through the training and qualification of human resources, promoting national traditional products, and enhancing their competitiveness in both national and international markets.

This national scheme is expected to serve as a crucial lever for advancing the traditional crafts sector, recognized as a vital component of the national economy and a fundamental bearer of the cultural and civilizational identity of the Kingdom.
