International Inter-University Cooperation: A Path to Sustainable Development
On April 24, 2026, Casa Árabe will host an academic seminar focused on international inter-university cooperation, sustainability, and the 2030 Agenda. This event is part of a collaborative initiative between the National University of Distance Education (UNED) and Cadi Ayyad University of Marrakech (UCA). The seminar is set to take place in the Salón de Embajadores at Casa Árabe in Madrid, from 09:45 AM to 2:00 PM. Attendance requires prior registration, as spots are limited.
This gathering aims to bring together academic leaders, researchers, and university administrators from both institutions to deliberate on the pivotal role that universities play in addressing significant global challenges. Topics of discussion will include sustainable development, academic mobility, and the prospects for Euro-African and Euro-Arab cooperation in higher education. The seminar, co-organized by Casa Árabe, UCA, and UNED, will commence with an institutional welcome followed by several roundtable discussions. These discussions will center on international inter-university cooperation, the role of international development law, student mobility, and knowledge transfer as essential tools to foster more inclusive, sustainable, and socially committed university models.
The event will conclude with a keynote address from Professor Fatiha Sahli, Emeritus Professor of Law at Cadi Ayyad University and a leading researcher in international cooperation and sustainable development. Her closing remarks will provide insights into the role of international law from an Arab and historical perspective, emphasizing its importance in enhancing inter-university cooperation aimed at reducing structural asymmetries and fostering academic dialogue between the northern and southern Mediterranean regions.
This seminar in Madrid is part of a broader series of activities taking place throughout the week at UNED and other academic venues, continuing the collaborative efforts initiated between UNED and Cadi Ayyad University. This partnership is strategically oriented toward strengthening university sustainability policies and creating stable networks of cooperation among Mediterranean universities. Through this initiative, Casa Árabe reaffirms its commitment to promoting academic dialogue, institutional cooperation, and knowledge exchange between Spain and the Arab world, particularly the Maghreb region, highlighting the significance of higher education as a bridge for fostering a more sustainable and shared future.
