GITEX Africa 2026: A Landmark Edition Celebrated in Marrakech

GITEX Africa 2026: A Record-Breaking Event in Marrakech

The fourth edition of GITEX Africa, held in Marrakech from April 7 to 9, 2026, has been marked by exceptional outcomes, both in terms of attendance and the quality of international participation. As stated by Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, the Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, during a recent oral question at the Chamber of Advisors regarding Morocco's promotion as a digital hub and investment encouragement, this event, organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, saw over 55,000 participants, up from 52,000 in 2025, despite challenging international circumstances.

Notably, approximately 1,500 exhibitors from 58 countries participated in this edition, alongside 412 investors from more than 35 countries, collectively managing assets exceeding $350 billion. Furthermore, the event facilitated over 4,600 business meetings, showcasing a robust momentum within startup ecosystems. The Moroccan Ministry supported 300 local startups as part of the 'Morocco 300' initiative, with 165 national startups selected for direct B2B meetings with investors. Impressively, 64% of participating startups entered into advanced negotiations following the event.

Investment and Strategic Focus on Emerging Technologies

Minister Seghrouchni highlighted the participation of major international funds, which represent over 80% of startup financing in Africa, and noted the significant presence of international development finance institutions. This underscores Morocco's attractiveness as a regional digital investment hub. Additionally, the 2026 edition emphasized the use of artificial intelligence across key strategic sectors, including fintech, smart mobility, cybersecurity, data centers, digital education, smart cities, and sovereign digital infrastructures.

In conclusion, GITEX Africa Morocco has reaffirmed its role as a strategic lever to support digital transformation, strengthen technological sovereignty, attract investments, and solidify Morocco's position as a regional and continental digital hub that connects Africa with the global technological ecosystem.
