French National Sentenced for Murder Awaiting Extradition to Paris

Extradition Proceedings for French National Convicted of Homicide

A 30-year-old French national of Tunisian descent has been transferred to the "Al-Arjat 2" local prison in Sale, Morocco, as he awaits the completion of extradition procedures to French judicial authorities. This action follows his consent to the extradition process, which was initiated after Moroccan police presented him to the prosecutor at the local court in Marrakech on Wednesday, to address the request from France seeking his arrest and extradition.

The request from French authorities is linked to a 30-year prison sentence handed down in absentia for his alleged involvement in a homicide case involving the use of a firearm. Upon appearing before the public prosecutor, the suspect was informed that there was an international arrest warrant issued against him by French judicial authorities. After being questioned about his willingness to be extradited, he expressed his consent, leading to his detention in the "Al-Arjat 2" prison until all extradition formalities are finalized.

The events surrounding this case date back to September 2017, when the suspect allegedly shot and killed an individual on the street in Vitry-sur-Seine, France, before fleeing the scene.

The individual was captured in a police operation in Marrakech after a check against the Interpol database revealed a red notice issued at the request of the Central National Bureau in Paris, aimed at enforcing the 30-year prison sentence. Following his arrest, he was placed in custody pending the judicial investigation led by the National Judicial Police Brigade, under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor, to investigate the criminal acts attributed to him based on the formal complaint from French authorities.
