On Saturday, police at the Marrakech Menara Airport apprehended a 30-year-old French citizen of Algerian descent, suspected of being involved in the dissemination of digital content that includes defamation and insults directed at Moroccan citizens. The accusations also extend to slander and derogatory remarks aimed at a public institution regulated by law.
The individual in question had reportedly shared posts and videos on her social media accounts that contained offensive statements about Moroccan citizens, alongside allegations against public employees of accepting bribes and showing preferential treatment while performing their duties related to traffic law enforcement.
These actions prompted a judicial inquiry overseen by the relevant public prosecutor, which resulted in a national search warrant being issued for the suspect. She was ultimately arrested at Marrakech Menara Airport as she was preparing to leave the country on a flight heading to France.
The suspect has since been placed under police custody, pending an investigation conducted by the regional judicial police of Marrakech under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor. This investigation aims to uncover all the circumstances and details surrounding the case and determine the true motivations behind the actions attributed to her.
