Completion of the Ibn Sina University Hospital in Rabat
As the final stages of construction unfold at the Ibn Sina University Hospital in Rabat, excitement builds for the imminent opening of this state-of-the-art medical facility. Initiated four years ago under the directive of King Mohammed VI, the hospital is now entering its last phase of external developments. Construction crews have been diligently working on-site for several days to complete various outdoor enhancements that are essential for the facility's operations.
Surrounding the hospital complex, heavy machinery is actively engaged in paving access roads and landscaping the vicinity of this monumental infrastructure. The total investment for the project exceeds 6 billion dirhams, which underscores the significance of this development in enhancing healthcare services in Morocco. Spanning a covered area of more than 190,000 square meters, the new center will feature a 33-story inpatient tower, a five-level medical-technical hub, a conference center, a training facility, and an intern housing section, alongside a dedicated cardiovascular activities tower.
Modern Healthcare Facilities and Future Prospects
The new hospital will house a wide array of medical services including inpatient wards, intensive care units, day hospitals, outpatient consultation services, and functional exploration facilities. Additionally, it will feature an emergency department, a specialized unit for burn victims, a service for severe respiratory illnesses, a hemodialysis center, and numerous logistical, administrative, medical, and hospitality platforms.
Moreover, the northeastern section of the premises, which currently accommodates the existing Ibn Sina hospital, is set to be transformed into green spaces and gardens. Future plans may also include the establishment of a medical museum and additional support facilities. Designed to replace the previous structure that opened in 1954, this ambitious project showcases a bioclimatic garden tower reaching 140 meters in height, which overlooks a sprawling 6.5-hectare park. The new Ibn Sina University Hospital will also be equipped with a helipad and a parking area capable of accommodating approximately 1,300 vehicles.
