El Salvador and Morocco Set for International Friendly in June

In an exciting announcement for football fans, the national teams of El Salvador and Morocco will face each other in an international friendly match scheduled for June in the United States. This news was confirmed by Yamil Bukele, the president of the Salvadoran Football Federation (FESFUT), on Friday. The match will take place on June 3 at the Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, as part of the commitments during the upcoming FIFA match window.

Bukele expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating that this match represents a significant high-level commitment that contributes positively to the ongoing development under the guidance of Colombian coach Hernán 'Bolillo' Gómez. The Salvadoran team, known as La Selecta, is keen to enhance its preparations in anticipation of competitions following the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Morocco, on the other hand, is coming off a remarkable performance at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where they made history by finishing in fourth place after defeating prominent teams like Spain and Portugal. The Moroccan squad, referred to as the “Atlas Lions,” has been placed in Group C for the upcoming World Cup, where they will compete against Brazil, Haiti, and Scotland.

Furthermore, recent developments in African football saw Senegal penalized for temporarily leaving the pitch in protest against a penalty awarded to Morocco during the Africa Cup final, resulting in Morocco being declared the champions with a 3-0 victory.
