Lawyer Confirms Khadija Diab's Location and Circumstances
A Moroccan woman named Khadija Diab, whose husband Nasiru Idris Musa has made various claims regarding her location on social media, is not in the company of Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, according to her lawyer, Bilkisu Abdulrasheed Chedi. Chedi, who serves as the Executive Director of the Women Aware of Rights Initiative, stated that Khadija has been residing in Morocco since April 2026. This revelation was made public through a video clip that detailed the situation surrounding Khadija’s case, which was shared on Dr. Ahmad Gumi's verified Facebook page amidst the ongoing controversy created by her husband’s assertions.
According to Chedi, Khadija returned to Morocco after the organization facilitated the issuance of an emergency travel document, following an incident where her husband allegedly seized her international passport. The lawyer confirmed that Khadija has been in Morocco for approximately six months, living with her family. Chedi emphatically dismissed the allegations that Khadija has been with Sheikh Gumi, stating that it is impossible for an individual to be in two different countries simultaneously.
Background of Khadija's Legal Struggles
In a deeper context, Khadija had approached the Women Aware of Rights Initiative in October 2025, alleging severe domestic abuse, neglect, and what she termed an “unlawful and unnatural conjugal relationship” with her husband. Following her claims, the organization recommended that she undergo medical examinations, which revealed that she had contracted sexually transmitted diseases. After these revelations, Khadija expressed her desire to terminate her marriage, citing both emotional and physical abuse as her reasons.
The legal proceedings began at the Area Sharia Court on Daura Road, Kaduna, with the initial hearing taking place on October 3, 2025. However, the case faced delays due to various factors, including the defendant's counsel filing a motion for reconciliation, changes in legal representation, and a judicial strike in Kaduna. These complications contributed to Khadija’s emotional distress, prompting her to seek a return to her home country.
Due to her husband’s alleged possession of her passport, the organization played a crucial role in securing a travel document for Khadija from the Moroccan authorities. Chedi reported that both Moroccan immigration and the Moroccan Embassy in Nigeria confirmed Khadija’s safe arrival in Morocco. Before her departure from Nigeria, Khadija had entrusted Chedi with the continuation of her legal matters. As of June 10, 2026, the case at the Daura Road Sharia Court was officially discontinued, and a new case was filed in July aimed at dissolving her marriage in accordance with Sharia law. Chedi urged the public to ignore any unfounded claims regarding Khadija’s association with Sheikh Gumi, emphasizing that her statement aims to clarify the ongoing confusion surrounding her whereabouts.
