Casablanca Takes Action for a Cleaner Aïd Al Adha
As the festive occasion of Aïd Al Adha approaches, the city of Casablanca is implementing a comprehensive plan to ensure cleanliness throughout its neighborhoods. This initiative, launched on Wednesday, mobilizes a substantial number of workers who are distributed across all districts, supported by a significant fleet of vehicles and equipment dedicated to waste collection and cleaning operations. Coordinated by the Casablanca municipality in collaboration with the local development company Casablanca Baia, this effort engages local authorities as well as waste management operators, Arma and Averda. The primary objective is to maintain a healthy environment during this period when waste generation is notably high.
Enhanced Awareness Campaigns
In addition to the operational measures, a broad communication campaign has been initiated to encourage residents to adopt responsible behaviors regarding waste disposal. This campaign emphasizes the importance of adhering to designated waste collection times, using appropriate bags, and sorting waste correctly. Ground-level actions and digital supports complement this educational approach. Furthermore, biodegradable bags have been distributed free of charge to facilitate the collection of waste resulting from sacrificial practices. Rapid-response teams are also on standby to address cleanliness issues in the most affected areas, executing washing and disinfection operations to mitigate nuisances.
In parallel, a sanitary program is underway, targeting areas such as prayer sites, markets, and waste collection points to combat insect populations and uphold public hygiene. These collective efforts rely heavily on the commitment of citizens, who are urged to actively participate in the success of this initiative and in the maintenance of their urban environment.
