The Spezia Forum: A Gateway to Economic Collaboration
On April 9th and 10th, the headquarters of the Eastern Ligurian Sea Port System will host "Spezia: A Bridge to Africa," an international forum dedicated to enhancing economic, industrial, and logistical connections between Italy and North African nations. This significant event aims to unite institutions and businesses, particularly those in logistics and shipping, with the objective of fostering dialogue and exploring new collaborative opportunities across the Mediterranean, in line with the principles of the Mattei Plan.
The forum will emphasize the strategic importance of ports as platforms for economic development, focusing on the growth of transport infrastructure, energy, investments, and financial support for businesses. Delegates from Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia will participate, including notable figures such as Pasquale Salzano, the Italian Ambassador to Morocco; Nisrine Iouzzi, Director of Dakhla Atlantic Port Construction; Nicola Colicchi, President of the Italian-Libyan Chamber of Commerce; Mohamed Mehrez, a council member from the Economic Section of the Tunisian Embassy; Ahmed Osman Mahmoud, Deputy President of the Damietta Port Authority in Egypt; and Ahmed Hamou, Rector of the University of Sciences and Technology of Oran, representing Algeria and Libya.
From the Italian side, the forum will feature key participants including Marco Bucci, the President of the Liguria Region; Edoardo Rixi, the Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Transport; Bruno Pisano, the Commissioner of the Eastern Ligurian Sea Port Authority; Pierluigi Peracchini, the Mayor of La Spezia; and Andrea Cantadori, the Prefect of La Spezia.
Focusing on the Mattei Plan and Strategic Autonomy
A significant focus of the forum will be the Mattei Plan and the role of the Italian industrial system in advancing economic ties. Keynotes will be delivered by Alessandro Guerri, the Director General for European and International Affairs and Sustainable Finance, who is also a member of the Technical Committee of the Mattei Plan at the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, alongside Antonio Gozzi, a special advisor responsible for Strategic Autonomy at Confindustria's European plan, the Mattei Plan, and competitiveness.
The event is proudly supported by the Municipality of La Spezia, the Eastern Ligurian Sea Port Authority, Confindustria La Spezia, Contship Italia, Dario Perioli Group, FHP, Gruppo Grendi, Laghezza Spa, Scafi Società di Navigazione, and Tarros Group. Additionally, it is organized by The International Propeller Club Port of La Spezia and Marina di Carrara, in collaboration with the Clickutility team.
