AS FAR Rabat Secures CAF Champions League Final Spot with Aggregate Victory

In a thrilling encounter, AS FAR Rabat advanced to the final of the CAF Champions League after triumphing over their compatriots RS Berkane with a 2-1 aggregate score. Entering the match with a comfortable two-goal advantage, AS FAR aimed to maintain their lead despite having faced a defeat during their previous visit to the Stade Municipal de Berkane last year.

Head coach Moïne Chaâbani of Berkane emphasized the need for a strong start in the second leg of the semi-final. However, AS FAR's defense exhibited remarkable resilience in the early phases, effectively neutralizing any clear scoring opportunities for their opponents. Despite dominating possession throughout the first half, Berkane struggled to register a single shot on target, while AS FAR appeared content to absorb the pressure and focus on their defensive strategy.

The match took a turn in the second half when Berkane reignited their hopes by scoring in the 57th minute, courtesy of a penalty converted by Yassine Labhiri, following a foul by Anas Bach inside the penalty area. Nevertheless, Berkane's efforts to stage a comeback fell short as AS FAR expertly managed the closing minutes of the game, ultimately securing their place in the final.

AS FAR Rabat will now prepare to face Mamelodi Sundowns in the championship match, following the South African team's elimination of Esperance in the other semi-final fixture. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is expected to announce the official dates and times for the final soon.
