Predator Oil & Gas Commences Drilling in Morocco
Predator Oil & Gas Holdings Plc has officially launched its drilling operations at the MOU-6 well in Morocco, marking a significant milestone in its exploration efforts. The drilling commenced on September 19, 2026, and is anticipated to take approximately 20 days to complete. This initiative is part of the company's broader strategy to tap into potential gas resources located within geological formations that have previously been assessed through earlier wells, specifically MOU-1 and MOU-3. These formations have shown promise in terms of hydrocarbon potential, prompting Predator to explore their gas capabilities further.
Strategic Focus on Gas Resource Development
Predator's exploration activities in Morocco are guided by a commitment to developing local gas resources for commercial viability, particularly through the establishment of compressed natural gas (CNG) or micro-liquefied natural gas (micro-LNG) facilities. This strategic approach not only considers local gas pricing but also the availability of nearby export infrastructure, which are crucial for successful commercialization. However, it is essential to note that any commercial development plans will hinge on the outcomes of the ongoing exploration and subsequent evaluations of the MOU-6 well.
This drilling program is the latest venture within Predator's extensive Moroccan portfolio, which is currently being evaluated for its gas potential, with results yet to be reported. In addition to its Moroccan exploration, the company is also active in onshore oil operations in Trinidad, where it is engaged in production, appraisal, and infill drilling opportunities. Predator operates under a Master Services Agreement with NABI Construction in Trinidad and benefits from legacy tax losses, which may influence its effective Petroleum Profit Tax obligations.
As Predator Oil & Gas continues to advance its operations in both Morocco and Trinidad, the immediate objective remains the successful completion of the MOU-6 drilling and the thorough assessment of its findings, to inform future exploration and development strategies for gas resources.
