Intrepid Travel Anticipates Morocco's Rise in Popularity

In a bold forecast, Intrepid Travel has indicated that Morocco is poised to surpass Vietnam as its bestselling destination for travelers from the UK and Ireland. This prediction follows the operator's largest-ever familiarization trip, which recently brought together 60 travel agents to immerse themselves in the cultural and scenic wonders of Morocco. During their visit, agents experienced the vibrant atmosphere of Marrakech, explored the historic medina, and enjoyed accommodations in traditional riads. Additionally, they ventured into the breathtaking landscapes of the Atlas Mountains, the Agafay desert, Casablanca, and Essaouira, enriching their understanding of this diverse destination.

Back in Marrakech, agents had the unique opportunity to engage with Nora Fitzgerald Belahcen, the founder of Amal, an organization dedicated to empowering women through culinary training. This interaction not only highlighted the positive social impacts of tourism but also inspired agents to share their experiences upon returning home. The trip culminated in a celebratory gala event at Riad Joudour, a key property within Intrepid's newly launched collection of community-focused accommodations, Stay Intrepid.

Growing Demand for Authentic Experiences

According to Carrie Grant, head of industry partnerships for Intrepid in the UK and Ireland, Morocco's appeal lies in its vast array of experiences and relatively short flight time from the UK. Grant noted that the enthusiasm displayed by travel agents during the fam trip suggests a growing appetite for Moroccan adventures. She emphasized the importance of on-the-ground support and operational capability, which allows Intrepid to meet increasing demand effectively. As agents return from these trips with compelling stories, they become powerful advocates for the brand, significantly influencing customer bookings.

This year, Intrepid is set to host over 350 agents on various familiarization trips, covering destinations such as Peru, France, the Netherlands, Uzbekistan, Greece, Spain, and Morocco. This initiative underscores the operator's commitment to enhancing agent knowledge and passion for their offerings. The recent fam trip coincided with National Travel Agent Day, an event established by Intrepid in 2020 to celebrate the vital role of travel agents. As part of the celebrations, Intrepid is promoting its Premium travel range, which continues to gain traction among consumers.

Agents' feedback on Morocco has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their appreciation for the rich cultural experiences and the warmth of the Moroccan people. As the travel landscape evolves, destinations like Morocco, Japan, and Peru are emerging as favorites among travelers seeking authentic and immersive adventures. As reported by travelweekly.co.uk.
