On the morning of Friday, May 7, 2023, Marrakech launched the 58th edition of the Francophone Housing Network Conference, organized on May 8 and 9, 2023. This initiative, led by the Group of Urban Development, is under the auspices of the Ministry of National Territory Planning, Urban Development, Housing, and City Policy.
This high-level international event gathers decision-makers, experts, and representatives from various institutions within the Francophone community to discuss a pivotal theme: "Towards an Integrated Approach to Sustainable Affordable Housing." The backdrop for these discussions is characterized by increasing challenges related to rapid urbanization and the growing demand for housing.
The organization of this event aligns with strategic goals aimed at promoting the right to adequate housing, reducing territorial disparities, and enhancing international cooperation, particularly within the Francophone space. This is part of the dynamic initiatives currently shaping housing policies in Morocco.
Through this conference, the Group of Urban Development aims to highlight its role in executing public policies related to housing and land development while showcasing Morocco's experience in developing innovative and sustainable housing models.
The conference seeks to position Morocco within international discussions on housing and urban development issues, aspiring to establish itself as a platform for dialogue and exchange of experiences regarding the challenges posed by modern cities, especially concerning environmental and social constraints.
The conference program includes general sessions and thematic workshops that will address several key themes, including achieving a balance between social, economic, and environmental dimensions in housing, urban rehabilitation issues, and enhancing the resilience of cities facing crises.
Additionally, discussions will explore ways to improve territorial governance and foster partnerships among various stakeholders, along with examining the role of technological innovation and digital transformation in modernizing the housing sector. New financing models that combine public and private sectors, as well as international institutions, will also be a focus.
This meeting is expected to serve as a strategic space for exchanging visions on the future of cities and proposing practical solutions that respond to rapid urban transformations, aiming to provide adequate and affordable housing for a wide range of society.
