Marrakech Hosts the 58th Francophone Housing Conference: A Leap Towards Sustainable Housing Solutions

On the morning of Friday, May 7, 2023, the city of Marrakech inaugurated the 58th edition of the Francophone Network for Housing Conference, which will take place over the course of two days, May 8 and 9. This significant event is organized by the Al Omrane Group in collaboration with the Ministry of National Planning, Urbanization, Housing, and City Policy.

This high-level international gathering brings together a diverse group of decision-makers, experts, and representatives from various institutions within the Francophone community to discuss a central theme: "Towards an Integrated Approach for Sustainable Affordable Housing." This critical topic comes at a time when there are increasing challenges related to rapid urbanization and the growing demand for housing.

The organization of this conference aligns with strategic objectives aimed at promoting the right to adequate housing, reducing spatial disparities, and enhancing international cooperation, particularly within the Francophone sphere, as part of the dynamic policies surrounding housing in Morocco.

Through this event, the Al Omrane Group aims to highlight its role in implementing public policies related to housing and land development while showcasing Morocco's experience in developing innovative and sustainable housing models.

The conference aspires to reinforce Morocco's position in international discussions regarding housing and urban development, striving to establish the country as a platform for dialogue and exchange of experiences surrounding the challenges faced by modern cities amidst environmental and social constraints.

The conference program includes general sessions and thematic workshops that will address several key issues, including achieving a balance among social, economic, and environmental dimensions in housing, urban rehabilitation challenges, and enhancing the resilience of cities in the face of crises.

Discussions will also explore ways to improve territorial governance and develop partnerships among various stakeholders, as well as investigate the role of technological innovation and digital transformation in modernizing the housing sector. Furthermore, new financing models that bridge the public and private sectors along with international institutions will be examined.

This meeting is expected to serve as a strategic space for exchanging visions about the future of cities and proposing practical solutions that respond to rapid urban transformations, contributing to the provision of adequate and affordable housing for a wide range of community members.
