Euro-Mediterranean Tourism Forum Set to Spotlight Morocco's Growing Influence

Morocco to Host the Euro-Mediterranean Tourism Forum 2026

The upcoming 2026 edition of the Euro-Mediterranean Tourism Forum, known as Meditour, is scheduled to take place in Agadir from June 18 to June 20. This forum is poised to underscore Morocco's expanding role within the Mediterranean tourism landscape. It follows a remarkable year in 2025, during which Morocco welcomed approximately 19.8 million visitors and generated an impressive revenue of 124 billion dirhams from its tourism sector. In light of this growth, the forum aims to bring together over 300 decision-makers and 40 international experts to discuss and strategize on tourism challenges and opportunities leading up to 2030.

Strategic Importance of the Event

Hosting the Meditour Forum is a strategic decision for Morocco, especially considering the significant revenue generated by the tourism sector in 2025. The forum aims to address the evolving needs of the tourism market, especially in anticipation of major events such as the 2030 World Cup. By gathering a diverse group of stakeholders, the forum will facilitate discussions on how to adapt tourism offerings to meet future demands while ensuring sustainability and growth. The event is organized by the Souss-Massa Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services, with operational support from the SMART Tourism Development Agency and backing from various institutional partners including the Ministry of Tourism, SMIT, ONMT, and CRT.

Furthermore, the Meditour Forum seeks to convert structural challenges, such as connectivity and climate resilience, into opportunities for public-private partnerships. By placing a strong emphasis on tourism intelligence and digitalization, the organizers aim to foster collaboration among chambers of commerce across the Mediterranean, identifying key growth vectors for a competitive tourism sector.

In light of robust national indicators showing a 14% increase in arrivals and foreign exchange revenues reaching 138 billion dirhams—up 21% from 2024—the forum is aligned with Morocco's goal of welcoming 26 million tourists by 2030. Additionally, internal tourism remains a vital component of the economy, with domestic expenditures estimated at 48 billion dirhams, further solidifying the sector’s resilience.
