Tanker Hespérides Embarks on Seven Strategic Journeys from Salinetas to Agadir

The Spanish oil tanker, Hespérides, is set to undertake a series of seven crucial voyages between Salinetas, located in Gran Canaria, and Agadir, Morocco. This operational decision comes in the wake of recent unloading activities conducted at the DISA facility by the tanker STI Hammersmith. Currently, the second trip is in progress, and significant developments are expected as another similar cargo is scheduled for unloading at the buoy field of the DISA facility on September 5. Notably, the facility has been upgraded to accommodate tankers of up to 50,000 tons per meter (TPM), which is a strategic move aimed at reducing reliance on the CEPSA refinery in Tenerife, which has been facing prolonged inactivity.

With a remarkable two decades of service, the Hespérides has proven itself to be one of the most efficient vessels in the Distribuidora Marítima Petrogás fleet. Its reputation is underscored by its exceptional performance and reliability, making it a standout among maritime transport solutions. Following closely behind is the tanker Tinerfe, which has also demonstrated commendable efficiency. The quality of Spanish shipbuilding is often regarded as superior compared to its counterparts in Turkey and China, despite the current market trends favoring these other nations. This ongoing discussion highlights the need for maintaining high standards in maritime operations and ship construction.
