National Reading Challenge Concludes with Remarkable Achievements
On the morning of Tuesday, May 5, 2026, the National Center for Dance and Choreography in Rabat hosted the grand finale of the "Arab Reading Challenge" for its tenth edition. The event showcased a remarkable presence from the Regional Academy for Education and Training in the Marrakech-Safi region, culminating in impressive results at the national level that highlighted the region's commitment to promoting literacy and education.
During this prestigious ceremony, student Khadija Boumlik, who is studying at the Talouh Middle School under the Regional Directorate of Rahamna, was crowned the national champion of the Arab Reading Challenge. Her victory came after a fierce competition against some of the brightest participants from various regions across the kingdom. The cultural and educational event was presided over by Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, Mohamed Saad Berada, and attended by the Chargé d'Affaires at the UAE Embassy in Rabat, Thani Al-Rumaithi. The event was skillfully moderated by journalist and author Yassine Adnan, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
Students from the Marrakech-Safi Academy further shone in the competition, as student Anas Oussaid from Biranzaran Secondary School in the Al-Haouz Directorate secured the second position. Meanwhile, student Malek Bouno from Al-Oula School in the Marrakech Directorate finished fifth in the national ranking, marking a significant achievement for their institutions and the region.
In the category for students with special needs, the Rahamna Directorate excelled by securing third place nationally, a testament to the inclusive efforts of various educational sectors engaging in this pioneering cultural initiative.
This year’s edition saw record-breaking participation, with over 17,000 educational institutions and branches involved, and more than 7 million students from different educational levels across the kingdom taking part in the challenge. This overwhelming response reflects a collective commitment to fostering a culture of reading and education in Morocco.
