On Tuesday, the Bremen police launched an investigation following two violent incidents involving a 22-year-old and a 24-year-old man in the Neustadt area. The alarming events began when the two young men were outside near their residence, located at the corner of Großen Johannisstraße and Süderstraße. Suddenly, a known associate, who is part of a group currently staying with them, attacked the 24-year-old man with a machete. The victim attempted to shield himself with his arms and hands, but sustained severe injuries, including the severing of two fingers. He was promptly transported to a hospital for further treatment, while the assailant fled the scene before police arrived.
In a subsequent police response to the residence of the two men due to another reported altercation, authorities were able to secure the machete related to the earlier attack. During this operation, several suspects from Algeria and Morocco were apprehended, and their mobile phones were confiscated. One individual among those detained became a focal point of the investigation concerning the machete assault.
Later on, the machete was discovered by acquaintances of the 24-year-old, who found it hidden within the apartment and subsequently handed it over to the police. The investigation continues as officers pursue charges of aggravated bodily harm and examine the circumstances surrounding the attack, including possible links to the 'Soko Junge Räuber' (Young Robbers Task Force). Witnesses are encouraged to contact the criminal investigation service at 0421 362-3888 with any information.
