Urgent: Laayoune Boosts Its Markets with New Supplies of Sacrificial Animals to Meet Rising Demand

Laayoune Prepares for Eid al-Adha with New Livestock Arrivals

According to sources reported by le12.ma, the city of Laayoune welcomed a fresh shipment of sheep and sacrificial animals late Monday night. This strategic move aims to enhance the local market supply and meet the increasing demand ahead of the Eid al-Adha festival, ensuring that this significant religious occasion proceeds smoothly.

Sources confirmed that nearly ten trucks filled with sheep entered the livestock market in Laayoune on that night. Additionally, more trucks carrying sacrificial animals were redirected to Laayoune from the "Atqadaw" market in Guelmim, where they experienced lower than expected sales. This timely shift allows for better marketing opportunities within Laayoune's vibrant trade landscape.

In line with these efforts, the Marjan hypermarket in Laayoune is also expected to receive a new shipment of sacrificial animals. This initiative is part of broader efforts to ensure ample availability of sheep for citizens, providing diverse purchasing options across both open markets and major retail centers.

Authorities in Laayoune are closely monitoring the situation, overseeing supply operations, and regulating the sale of sacrificial animals. It is noteworthy that the acquisition and slaughtering of these animals will continue until the third day of the festival, with expectations of significant activity in livestock markets in the coming hours.
