Hanane Atrakine Advocates for Swift Regulation of Transportation Services to Ensure Citizen Safety and Protect Professionals
Hanane Atrakine, a member of the Authenticity and Modernity Party in the House of Representatives, has directed an oral inquiry to the Minister of Transport and Logistics, urging the expedited development of a comprehensive legal and regulatory framework for app-based transportation services. This initiative is intended to align with the ongoing digital transformations in the sector and ensure the protection of the rights of all stakeholders involved.
Atrakine emphasized that app-based transportation services have seen a significant rise in Morocco, becoming a popular choice among citizens due to their speed and flexibility. However, the continuation of these services outside a clearly defined legal framework that outlines rights and obligations poses numerous challenges related to safety, security, legal responsibility, and the conditions under which these services operate.
Furthermore, Atrakine pointed out that this legal vacuum has contributed to the emergence of tensions and disputes on the ground, sometimes resulting in unfortunate incidents that lead to human and material losses. It has also perpetuated a state of chaos and inequality of opportunity among various players in the transportation sector.
In this context, Atrakine has called on the Ministry of Transport and Logistics to disclose the measures and actions planned to expedite the establishment of a clear legislative and regulatory framework for app-based transportation. Such a framework would ensure the safety of users, protect the interests of professionals, and mitigate manifestations of tension and disorder, all while aligning with technological advancements and the demands of modern transportation.
