Urgent Call for Infrastructure Development in Sidi Chiker: Enhancing Connectivity and Living Standards

The Tawasul Association for Development and Environmental Conservation, based in the Douar Al-Hanawat, has urgently appealed to central, regional, and provincial authorities to complete the second phase of the road connecting the center of the Sidi Chiker commune to the Ben Kaboura Douar, passing through Al-Hanawat in the Youssoufia region. The association highlighted that the delay in this project exacerbates the isolation of several localities and deprives residents of essential services and facilities.

In a letter addressed to various officials, including the President of the Marrakech-Safi Region Council, the regional governor, the Minister of Interior, the Minister of Equipment and Water, the Youssoufia provincial governor, and the leader of the Sidi Chiker leadership, the association called for the expedited execution of the project and the completion of the remaining works as soon as possible.

The letter, which was reviewed by the "Al-Omq" newspaper, emphasized that the significance of this road extends beyond serving the localities of the Sidi Chiker commune; it also enhances connectivity between several territorial communities in different provinces, including the Mouzaouida commune in the Chichaoua province and the Sidi Zouine commune in the Marrakech province. This underscores the project's developmental and spatial dimensions that transcend the administrative boundaries of the commune.

The civil body pointed out that the Douars of Al-Masabeh, Tal'a, Al-Hanawat, and Ben Kaboura, along with other neighboring areas, continue to suffer from fragile infrastructure and inadequate basic facilities. This situation negatively impacts the living conditions of residents and complicates their access to healthcare, education, and administrative services.

The association believes that completing this road project will enhance mobility between the Douars and nearby centers, facilitating the movement of students, patients, and citizens. Additionally, it will support local economic activities and ease the transport of agricultural products, positively impacting social and economic development in the region.

Furthermore, the correspondence highlighted that the challenges faced by the residents of Sidi Chiker are not limited to road conditions but also encompass limited access to essential services within the center. The absence of banking institutions, payment agencies, and numerous administrative and commercial facilities forces citizens to travel long distances to neighboring communities and cities for their daily needs.

The association also noted the ongoing struggles of several Douars due to inadequate coverage of telephone and internet networks, which limits access to digital services and exacerbates feelings of isolation, especially as reliance on digital means for various transactions and services increases.

In conclusion, the association urged a prompt intervention from all relevant parties to complete the stalled works, asserting that the implementation of this project is an urgent developmental demand that would contribute to alleviating isolation, improving quality of life, and enhancing development opportunities for the local population.
