Trelleborg Launches New Aerospace Sealing Facility in Casablanca, Morocco

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions has made a significant stride in the aerospace sector by inaugurating a state-of-the-art production facility in Casablanca, Morocco, aimed at enhancing the rapidly expanding aerospace hub within the region. Officially opened on June 10, 2026, the new plant is expected to strengthen Trelleborg's global presence while underscoring its commitment to the aerospace industry. Peter Nilsson, the group's president and CEO, highlighted the importance of this facility in a social media announcement, indicating that it will primarily manufacture airframe seals for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) that are currently experiencing remarkable growth, alongside a robust demand from the aftermarket.

As Gordon Ruper, the president of global aerospace, elaborated on the technical intricacies involved in the manufacturing process, he emphasized that the production of these seals demands a high level of expertise and incorporates a variety of materials. The facility will not only focus on airframe seals but will also introduce metal machining for the first time, thereby enhancing its manufacturing capabilities. Furthermore, it is equipped with a cutting-edge laboratory, facilitating ongoing material development and testing on a global scale.

The decision to establish the Casablanca facility was announced in May 2024, with initial operations slated to begin by the end of 2025. Trelleborg recognized a market gap at that time, noting that no other company in Morocco was dedicated to producing polymer seals specifically for the aerospace industry. This move aligns with Trelleborg's broader strategy, which also includes operating an automotive boots production facility in Kenitra, Morocco, that has been running since 2021, marking Trelleborg's inaugural production site on the African continent.
