Tragic Collision on the Marrakech–Chichaoua Road Claims Lives and Leaves Injured

Devastating Accident on the Marrakech–Chichaoua Route

On Sunday afternoon, a horrific traffic accident occurred on the road connecting Marrakech and Chichaoua, resulting in the tragic loss of three lives and numerous injuries. This unfortunate incident has mobilized various emergency services and local authorities to respond to the scene.

Preliminary reports indicate that the collision took place in the area known as Aïn Al-Bayda, situated between Al-Mzouda and Chichaoua. The accident involved a violent crash between two large taxi vehicles; one was traveling from Chichaoua to Marrakech, while the other was en route from Marrakech to Agadir.

The aftermath of this violent collision led to the immediate death of three individuals at the scene, while seven others sustained serious injuries, with some cases described as critical. In addition, five more people suffered from varying degrees of injuries. Eyewitness accounts suggest that excessive speed may have played a role in causing the accident, although this remains to be confirmed by the official investigation.

Upon receiving notification of the accident, local authorities, gendarmerie forces, and civil protection units swiftly arrived at the site to secure traffic flow and provide first aid to the victims. The injured were subsequently transported to Mohammed VI Regional Hospital in Chichaoua for urgent medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the mortuary.

Following instructions from the competent public prosecutor, a judicial investigation has been initiated to determine the causes and circumstances of this tragic incident, as well as to establish accountability based on the findings of ongoing inquiries.
